Big Al's Sunday Night Soul Show

Born & Bred in my hometown of Widnes (What!, Well someone has to live there!) and from an early age I have been interested in music. I grew up through the 60`s and 70`s which influenced my musical tastes today. With the introduction of Motown in the 60`s it quickly became my favourite sound, then as a teenager, (a long,long time ago), imports started to come into the country and I was "Hooked"on Discos, All-Nighters etc. So I`ve been on the "Soul/Northern Soul Scene" since its very early days, and is my Prefered Musical Taste Today.
I have always been interested in DJ-ing,and have helped thousands of Discos & Dj`s over the years! I have always listened to radio stations, CB`s ,Amateur Radio, as a "Hobby" and have wanted to be a "Radio DJ" for as long as I can remember, but never knew how to get onto radio, now isn't that a "Coincidence".
I have moved around the country quite a bit, over recent years,in the "Licensed Trade" (Pubs,that is), and then "Branched Out", going on holidays!, mostly Paphos, Cyprus, where I was asked to appear on a show on one of the towns local radio stations "Radio Cosmos", and once again "I was hooked", after arriving back home and saying to myself "I Can Do That" I built my own Studio (Still not complete,as you can see from the photo, but Almost!).
I live at home with my wife, Christine, we`ve been together 30 years, we now have 3 daughters, Julie-Ann, Karen, Dionne and a son John, all grown up, and with their own families. We are now "Great Grandparents" (I Bet That Makes YOU Feel Young) Ha!Ha!.
Since meeting the 2 Steves (Steve Lewis & Steve Fletcher) sometime ago, I was asked to "Stand-In" for Steve Fletcher, at "The Ring O` Bells"doing "The Soul Jukebox", and then at a later date, co-present "The Soul Connection" with "Steve Lewis" on Sunday Evenings, when "Fletch"was away! Well,that was my cue! I couldn't resist,so a big "Thanks" to the 2 Steves for that! (Don`t tell "Fletch", I`m a Man U. supporter!).
I present "Big Al`s Soul Show"on Sunday nights at 8pm, which follows "The Soul Connection",a hard act to follow!, but I like a "Challenge".
